After all, he says, the most important thing in painting is to be sincere, and I can certainly feel this in every one of his paintings. The quality of the book is worthy of showing them to you. Unpretentious, practical, approachable as long as you know the most basic of fundamentals. Top reviews from other countries. Well worth the money. Richard Schmid is truly a wise soul who knows his art form well. Granted, Richard Schmid's book is jam-packed full of incredibly beautiful images, but the real difference between this book and other how-to-paint books is that whereas the latter are concerned with the mere mechanics of painting, his book is also a journey that uncovers the intimate relationship between a painter and the scene she or he is trying to capture.

Before the class, I would skim through it, and I would pick a small bit here and there that would help me to "click" things in place while I was practising.
