Being a well-known seaside resort in Portugal, Albufeira has a restaurant scene that quite matches it. The menu here changes every day and the restaurant is famous for its amuse-bouches that pleasantly surprise guests on a daily basis. The wine pairing is also par excellence! The upscale dining experience here can be attributed to chef Dieter Koschina. Next on this list is Al Quimia, which has gotten some Michelin attention but not a star, as yet. Regulars highly recommend this restaurant and swear it deserves a star. Nonetheless, Al Quimia continues to impress diners with fresh catches, local ingredients and the attention to detail that goes into its dishes.

Albufeira is the biggest and most popular beach resort in Portugal, so it should come as no surprise that there are hundreds of Albufeira restaurants and bars clamouring for your attention. With that being said, I did a lot of research before I arrived, as well as asking locals and people who have spent a lot of time in the area where to eat in Albufeira Old Town. Bistro has a cosy and intimate interior, with soft lighting and simple furnishings. I opted for a tomato and mozzarella salad with green pesto and it was yummy, but I had major food envy at the salmon linguine with spinach and mushroom that my friend ordered! The menu is divided pretty equally between meat, fish, and pasta dishes, but vegetarian options are limited, with only one veggie pasta dish and a couple of salad starters catering to vegetarians. You can find Bistro here. Casa da Fonte is a beautiful restaurant set around a Moorish-style courtyard, complete with azulejos traditional blue tiles and lemon trees. This is by far one of the prettiest places to eat in Albufeira old town, and the menu is packed with grilled meat and seafood dishes. I particularly recommend the shell fish cream soup as a starter, which I enjoyed so much that I forgot to take a picture! You can find Casa da Fonte here. Good to know: There are no veggie options on the menu here unless you fancy having garlic bread as your main meal , but when we asked the staff, they told us that they have vegetarian lasagna available, so always check! Trattoria Toscana is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria right on the beachfront, where you can enjoy your dinner on the terrace overlooking the water.

There are also so many different cuisines represented — from traditional Portuguese restaurants to places serving Italian, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, and even Dutch or British food. To be completely honest, we never had a really bad meal anywhere in Albufeira. But this is also because we avoid certain types of places and some restaurants are simply much better than others.
Push the sails out with a dinner outing at this one-of-a-kind restaurant, housed within a traditional windmill that dates from The eatery only has 12 tables so make a reservation beforehand — try to nab a window table if you can, as the views are worth a photo or two. In terms of food, there is a well-curated, three-course set menu that showcases seasonal ingredients. Hidden away on a quiet street in the Old Town, this restaurant is a little gem worth investigating. A slick, minimalist aesthetic runs throughout, giving it an art gallery-like feel with the well-presented dishes serving as the masterpieces. The juicy steaks get top marks, along with the perfectly cooked scallops. The suckling pig croquettes and tuna loin with lime risotto are among the house favourites.

Top quality sea food, in a beautiful location for catching the sunset. Pizza oven cooked are so delicious, service is quick. The portions are very big and the prices are very decent. Restaurants are open all year round and serve food from lunchtime until late into the evening, making them perfect for visitors who want to eat out during their stay in Albufeira. Slide 1 of 4. Vila Joya Restaurant. Helmed by Austrian chef Dieter Koschina, this fine-dining restaurant in the Vila Joya resort was Portugal's first to gain two Michelin stars.
Food was good. This restaurant is all about the delicious piri-piri chicken. Review for the restaurant only - Vila Joya is a truly special dining experience. I tried some of the sea bass my friend had and it was delicious. This was such a wonderful evening and we an amazing experience. Hi Jurga, we are currently in Albufeira and I saw this article shared in one of the Facebook groups. Mixed starters at The Market. Went here Thursday night in April around 9pm. Well, it sounds like the Vale do Lobo resort is your kind of place. From the moment you arrive, the setting and staff are amazing. Best restaurant we visited all week. I was told this was THE chicken place in the world of Portuguese cuisine.
