Being a primary route, the A55 is often bustling with a55 closure, with certain sections particularly prone to congestion, especially during peak hours.
There will be a number of road closures in place on the A55 this week that are set to cause disruptions across North Wales. These A55 closures come as a result of carriageway maintenance, improvement works and general roadworks set to be carried out during the week. The closures are set to take place in various locations up and down the A55 including near Penmaenmawr and Kinmel Bay. A55, eastbound - Junction 12 : The onslip to the A55 at junction 12 Tal-y-Bont will be closed eastbound from Monday February 19 to Friday March 1 due to carriageway maintenance.

No sooner has the Penmaenbach headland contraflow been removed, Traffic Wales has announced a fresh set of works in Gwynedd. Lanes on the dual-carriageway will be closed in both directions from Britannia Bridge to junction 10 at Cyttir Lane near Bangor. The closures will take effect from 6am on Monday, February 12 until 4pm on Friday, February During this period, junction 9 sliproads at Treborth will also be closed overnight for tree-cutting work. The westbound exit will be shut on Wednesday, February 14, between 7pm-3am. Vegetation clearance will then continue on the westbound entry sliproad on the following two nights, February , also from 7pm-3am. On Friday night, February 9, the eastbound A55 was reopened more than a week earlier than planned at Penmaenbach, and the westbound tunnel contraflow was removed. It was a rare shaft of light in what is traditionally a gloomy time of year when roads are often closed for maintenance. Ongoing at present is the Llandudno Junction active travel scheme at the A55 junction 18 roundabout.

A55, both directions - junction 5 to 3 : There will be daytime lane closures in place on the A55 in both directions between junction 5 Rhisneigr and 3 Valley from Monday March 4 until Tuesday March 5 due to emergency repair works. A55, westbound - Junction 10 to 9 : The slip roads westbound on the A55 at junctions 10 and 9 will be closed from Monday March 4 until Wednesday March 6. These closures will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am and local diversions will be in place.
