The NCAA transfer portal cycle for the college football season has officially opened. The portal has fully cranked into gear with the FBS transfer window beginning Dec. Though some players announced their intentions to transfer prior to Monday, they could not officially enter the portal until it opened. College football 's new transfer portal window officially opened Monday, and while some players announced their plans to leave their schools prior to that, things were off and running this week. Last year, more than 3, FBS players entered the portal, which was open year-round. Through Thursday, Dec. ET, there were 1, players in the portal, including who were at an FBS school this season. This time around, the NCAA adopted dates for when players can enter the portal and not lose a year of eligibility, though they can sign with their new school at any time.
