My question is: I'd really like to get an honest feel for the reliability of the V-Star motor and the bike overall. One of the bikes I'm looking at is a Silverado. I really like the bikes looks, but I've heard some ugly war stories of people having problems with noisey lifters, and problems with the starter working lose, and bending the bolts, etc.

I do have to say temps outside were only 35 so maybe that has a factor to the problem. The old owner said it has the grizzly bear modification sounds sweet but the backfiring is driving me crazy. Oh and the front spark plug was blacker then the rear spark plug..
